8pm - 1am at Wayne's
15 rue de la Préfecture, Nice
In association with AngloINFO.com
- Radio Caroline South presented its debut Roadshow event at Nice's premier live music
venue, Wayne's in the Old Town of Nice (Vieux Nice).
Highlights of the evening were broadcast Sunday 13th Jan 22.00-01.00
 |
Radio Caroline DJs Mark Dezzani (left) & Tom Anderson (right) presented an evening
of classic Caroline music from the 60s to the present day with live music from Medi. The
event raised over euro 100 (£100) for the fund to get Radio Caroline on the Sky Digital
and WorldSpace Satellite radio platforms. |
| Over 200 happy punters turned up to eat great food from Wayne's anorak
chef Herman (Keep In Touch With The Dutch), drink draught beer (including Guinness) and
listen to great music. |
 |
 |
The Côte d'Azur's leading live band Medi provided two superb sets of
great music including many of their original compositions, current rock hits and rock
classics.
After playing at Wayne's, Eurythmic Dave Stewart invited Medi to play at his wedding
(August 2001) where they jammed with many of the guests which included Elton John and Mick
Jagger. |
| Dave Stewart has since signed Medi to his own record label 'Artists
Network', and they are currently recording their debut album in London. http://www.davestewart.com/
In December 2001, lead singer Medi (pictured right) was asked to do backing vocals on
BBC TV's Top of The Pops for U2's Bono and Eric Clapton. |

 |
Vasco is Medi's bass player and co-pens their excellent songs with lead
singer and rhythm guitarist, Medi. You can hear a selection of their original
compositions on Mark Dezzani's Caroline South programme, Sunday 13th January 2002,
22.00-01.00 CET (21.00-00.00 GMT) |
Original Medi songs featured on our broadcast of highlights will be:
'So New', 'Stay Away', 'Someday' and 'Slipping Away'. There are also a couple of cover
versions. The song 'Someday' and other Medi songs will be featured in forthcoming weeks
on Tom Anderson's Overdrive and Mark Dezzani's Caroline South programmes |

Radio Caroline was set up in 1964 with the mandate to give exposure to new
music. It was instrumental in creating the British music explosion of the 1960's. Radio
Caroline pioneered the album music format in the 70's and 80's and remains committed to
giving exposure to talented new artists who find it impossible to get airplay on most
heavily formatted commercial radio stations. Caroline South is delighted to find Medi on
it's own doorstep! |
A great time was had by one and all.
Thanks to Wayne's for hosting the first Radio Caroline South Roadshow and to our
co-sponsors of the event AngloINFO.
Thanks also to everyone who helped promote and support the event.
